Buttock or Piriformis Syndrome

January 30, 2013 by

Buttock or Piriformis Syndrome – Buttock pain can be from local muscle, tendon or bursa but can also be referred (from somewhere else) to the buttock area, commonly the lower back or pelvis. Piriformis Syndrome is a specific condition where the sciatic nerve is trapped between two of the buttock muscles. In some cases, (17%), the nerve passes through the Piriformis muscle and may require surgery. A thorough examination can pinpoint your buttock pain and help abolish it for good!
